Because of the shorter lifespan of our cats, we stress the importance of an annual physical examination on all cats less than 9 years of age, and twice yearly exams on older cats. Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems. We offer a wide range of veterinary services to keep your companions feeling their best:
Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services: Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your cat's complete health care needs.
Surgical Services: Our state-of-the-art surgical suite provides for the performance of a wide variety of surgical procedures.
Anesthesia: We utilize the safest available anesthetics to provide an extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high-risk patients. Using the most modern equipment, the patient's vital signs are monitored during all anesthetic procedures.
Radiology Services: Our on-site, modern X-ray equipment provides high quality digital radiographs to aid in the quick diagnosis of many disorders. We offer in hospital ultrasounds and radiographic interpretation by appointment with Dr. Kathy Gelatt-Nicholson, ACVR, DVM, a board certified radiologist.
Cardiac Services: We provide ECG services on-site - either as pre-operative, STAT or standard which are read by a board certified cardiologist at IVS. Dr Borde, from IVS, and Dr. Messenbacher from the University of Florida, are regularly scheduled for echocardiograms and consults in our office decreasing the stress of transporting your cat to Gainesville and a dog/cat facility.
Dentistry: Our dental services include teeth cleaning and polishing, digital dental X-rays, tooth extractions and minor oral surgery. For more extensive endodontics or mouth refracture repair, we refer to either Tampa Bay Veterinary Dentistry or the University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine.
Laboratory: Our in-house laboratory facilities provide ISTAT, urinalysis, fecal cytology, skin scraping, tape prep cytology and parasite testing. We combine in house diagnostics with national reference labs, Idexx and Antech along with some specialty labs for specific diagnostic test and consultations.
Permanent identification: We offer AVID microchip identification.
Pharmacy: We maintain a complete inventory of pharmaceuticals, vitamins, shampoos, flea and tick control products and heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your cat. We also carry a full line of prescription diets - Purina, Royal Canin, and Hills Science Diet..
Individualized Flea Control Programs: We develop programs for the specific needs of your cat and your own particular environmental situation. We will review with you the best ways to control fleas in your house, in your yard and on your cat.
Dietary Counseling: We will provide guidance regarding your cat's nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance and performance.
Behavioral Counseling: We do behavior counseling exams to address urine and stool marking, scratching, inter cat aggression, redirected aggression, and other behavior problems. If necessary, after consulting with Dr. Curtis, we will set up a housecall with Dr. Terry Curtis DVM, DACVB to further address your household's problems and solutions. She works through the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine.
