Brick City Cat Hospital Policies
Appointment Policy
At Brick City Cat Hospital, we see patients by appointment only so we can give each one the time and care they deserve. While we do our best to stay on schedule, emergency cases will always take priority, which might cause some delays. Thank you for your patience!
For your pet’s safety, please bring all cats in a secure pet carrier or on a harness. Even the most social cats can get nervous in a new space or around other animals.
Need flexibility? Ask about our Day Hospitalization Appointments! You can drop your cat off in the morning, and our doctor will examine them between appointments. We'll call you with the diagnosis and send you home with instructions after the visit.

Prescription Policy (Updated June 15, 2024)
We’re updating our prescription process to better support our team and ensure the safest care for your pets.
We will no longer accept prescription requests from third-party websites (like Chewy or 1-800-PetMeds). These will be declined automatically.

Patient Arrival Policy
Upon arrival, please identify yourself to the staff at the front desk.
For your protection and that of others, all dogs must be on a leash and properly controlled while in the waiting area or exam rooms. All cats must be presented in an appropriate cat carrier or on a leash. Though we make every effort to make our patients feel comfortable during their visit, they may still be a little uneasy about new people, new surroundings, or other pets. This is why we ask for your cooperation in restraining your pet.

How to Get Your Pet’s Medications
Option 1: Use Our Online Store!
- Shop medications, food, and supplies
- Delivered straight to your door
- Standard pricing with rotating discounts
- Faster approvals (because it connects directly with us!)
Option 2: Prefer another pharmacy (like Chewy)? No problem!
- Request a written prescription from us
- Pick it up at the hospital
- Mail paper scripts for medications (e.g., Cerenia)
- Email scripts for diets (e.g., Royal Canin)
Why We’re Making This Change
- Efficiency: Each third-party request takes up to 7 steps, involving our receptionist, technician, and doctor. Multiply that by 20+ daily requests—it slows down care for patients who are here in person.
- Quality & Safety: Medications sold through third-party vendors are not guaranteed by manufacturers once they leave their original supply chain.
- Less Phone Tag: With fewer third-party requests, we can spend more time helping patients and less time fielding status update calls.
Please allow 24 hours for medication refills or written prescriptions. We always prioritize in-hospital patients and same-day appointments. Got questions? We’re happy to help—just give us a call!
Brick City Cat Hospital Declaw Policy
Brick City Cat Hospital has made the decision to discontinue the practice of declawing as a surgical elective procedure. Current research has shown that residual pain and complications are common among declaw patients. Since one of the major tenets of Veterinary practice is to "do no harm", we cannot in conscience continue offering this surgery.
Please see our DECLAWING page
Payment Policy
We require full payment at the time that services are rendered.
For your convenience, we accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, Care Credit, cash, personal checks and pet insurance brought by Trupanion.
