Dr. Jennifer Salpeter

Dr Salpeter started Brick City Cat Hospital in April 2000 to offer the only cat exclusive veterinary care facility in Marion County.  She graduated from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine with honors in 1989.  While at the University, she did research in medical microbiology and immunology.  She received her under graduate Biology degree from Tulane University graduating with high honors in 1984.  Prior to Brick City Cat Hospital, she worked for 10 years at Ocala Veterinary Hospital and part time for 1 year at All Cat Heath Care Clinic in Gainesville, Florida.

While at Brick City Cat Hospital, she helped Dr. Gookin publish the 1st paper on Histiologic Features of Associated with Tritrichomonas Foetus Colitis in Domestic Cats- helping to uncover an emerging cause of diarrhea in young cats.  In addition, she has contributed to research in Histiocytic diseases in Cat at the University of California Davis. She co authored the article sponsored by Jurox and published in January 2021: PART 1: Feline Anesthesia: A Comprehensive Protocol Starts at Home with Sheilah Robertson, BVMS (Hons), PhD, DACVAA, DECVAA, DACAW, DECAWBM (WSEL), CVA, MRCVS;  and Kirby Pasloske, BSc (Hons), DVM, DVSc, DACVCP, MANZCVSc. She loves all aspect of feline medicine but focuses on internal medicine, dermatology, dentistry, and cardiology.  She is a member of the local Marion Veterinary Medical Association, a founding board member of PETS-(Pet Emergency Treatment Service)- the organization of local veterinarians that was formed to bring an after hours emergency clinic to our county in association with the University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine.  She is also a member of the Florida Veterinary Medical Assocation, American Veterinary Medical Association and The American Association of Feline Practitioners.

She lives in Ocala with her Husband, Herb,- her children, dog and 2 cats.

Dr. Anna Miller

Dr. Anna Miller, a native of Ocala, FL, and lifelong cat lover, joined the Brick City Cat Hospital team in January 2025. She attended Howard Middle School and graduated from Forest High School in 2017. Dr. Miller then pursued her undergraduate studies at the University of South Florida (USF) before earning her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Sydney in 2024.

As a recent graduate, Dr. Miller brings the latest advancements in feline medicine and a strong passion for providing exceptional care for cats. She has been working in cat-only hospitals since 2020, with experience as a veterinary technician, assistant, and groomer. Dr. Miller currently shares her life with two beloved cats, a dog, and a tortoise.

Dr. Miller’s professional interests include feline internal medicine and behavior, and she’s committed to ensuring each feline patient receives the individualized attention and treatment they deserve. Her compassionate, thorough approach to care aligns with Brick City Cat Hospital’s mission to provide the highest standard of service for your feline companions.

Outside of work, Dr. Miller enjoys spending time at the beach and on the rivers, playing board games, traveling, and listening to music.

Patti Gordon

Dr. Patti Gordon is a 1984 graduate of The University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. She established All Cats Healthcare Clinic in 1993, which she sold to Dr. White in 2021. She has lived in Gainesville since 1975 and her and her husband, Art Donovan, have been married since 1985. They share their love and their lives with six wonderful children, lots of cats, dogs, and various other pets that came into their busy, but happy, lives.

She is a member of AVMA, AAFP, Alachua VMA, AAHA, FVMA, AAZV, Feline Conservation Federation, UF Alumni Association, and Children’s Home Society of Florida. She is also a member of a variety of other community and national organizations.

In her spare time, Patti’s activities involve sports, fitness, animals, reading and community service

Dr. May-Li Cuypers, DVM, DACVIM

Mobile Ultrasound, Echocardiography and Internal Medicine Consultation

Dr. May-Li Cuypers received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Florida in 1992. After two years in general practice, she completed a residency in internal medicine at Louisiana State University. She is a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine and has worked in private referral practice since 1997.

Dr. Cuypers provides concierge-style specialty care at Brick City Cat Hospital two days each month. Her mobile service brings advanced diagnostic equipment and specialist expertise directly to our hospital, allowing your cat to receive care in a familiar, feline-only environment.

As part of the consultation, Dr. Cuypers discusses your cat’s medical history with your Brick City Cat Hospital veterinarian and performs a physical examination. She then performs the ultrasound or echocardiogram and reviews her findings and recommendations with you and your veterinarian. This collaborative approach can reduce the need for additional off-site testing and helps us begin an appropriate treatment plan promptly.

Dr. Cuypers also performs endoscopic procedures when indicated. We feel incredibly fortunate to have her expertise available to help us provide advanced care for our patients.

Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Cuypers is a world-class triathlete and adventure racer.

Melanie Powell
SonoPet Mobile Ultrasound

Melanie Powell is a registered cardiac and vascular sonographer who works as a veterinary sonographer with SonoPet Mobile Ultrasound. She received her training at Santa Fe College and holds credentials in cardiac and vascular sonography.

Through SonoPet, Melanie brings digital diagnostic ultrasound services directly to Brick City Cat Hospital. This convenient, on-site service allows your cat to receive advanced imaging in our familiar, feline-only environment without traveling to another facility.

During the appointment, Melanie obtains detailed ultrasound images based on the study requested by your Brick City Cat Hospital veterinarian. These images provide valuable information about your cat’s internal organs and help your veterinarian determine appropriate diagnostic or treatment recommendations. Once the results are available, your veterinarian will discuss the findings and any recommended next steps with you.

We are pleased to offer SonoPet’s mobile ultrasound services as another way to provide convenient, advanced diagnostic care for our patients.

Radiologist North Florida Veterinary Radiology

I am a Radiologist who founded my business North Florida Veterinary Radiology. I live in the Morriston, FL area and most of my business as a private practioner is in the Gainesville-Ocala and outlying areas. I completed my Bachelors degree in Animal Science at the University of Florida. I received my DVM from North Carolina State University and, after a year in private small animal practice in Orlando, FL, entered my Radiology residency at the University of Florida. I became board certified in 1998. I spent about 4 years as a Clinical Radiologist at the University of Minnesota's College of Veterinary Medicine and then spent nearly 5 years working for a private radiologist group in the Cleveland-Akron area. I locumed at the University of Florida for 2 years to help maintain their Radiology program and then decided to start my own private business.

I have a teenage son and various pets including 3 rescue dogs. I enjoy spending time with my family, going fishing, going to my son's baseball games, and reading a good book

Dr. Suzanne Brannan, DVM, CVA
Acupuncture

Dr. Brannan graduated from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in 1991. In 2004, she became a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist, completing the Small Animal Acupuncture course at the Chi Institute. Dr. Brannan has continued her education in Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM) completing courses in Herbal medicine, Food Therapy, and Tui-na at the Chi Institute.

She is currently on faculty at the Chi Institute and working on her Master's degree in TCVM. When not teaching or working as Secretary/Treasurer of the American Association of TCVM, she enjoys treating patients in her house call acupuncture practice, gardening, and spending time with her family and pets.
